Help with 540 kick
  • shinobi117shinobi117 August 2010
Hi I'm looking for help with my 540. I can do the rotation, but something about makes it look...well crappy. It doesn't look sharp enough. I have a video of it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1FXeXk2Vyg . If I could get some help, I'd appreciate it. I really don't have anyone to help me out nearby

    Hi
Make sure that your kicking leg is straight and comes over like a cresent kick it will make it bigger and cleaner.
Also keep your posture up when you are kicking. So bring your kick up instead of leaning too much.

it takes time i got it in 3 months by training hard and falling on my leg
  • hey
so i watched ur video and the only reason its not as sharp as u want is two simple things one just ur arms it sounds weird but if u don't have the arm motions right the move wont b as precise so when u go up for the 540 tuck ur arms in and twork and the other thing is ur non kicking leg what u need to do is keep it tucked even when u land so u can see that you are landing exactly on your kicking leg

Well, it's easier to land sometimes if you lean back a little bit (for me at least) but then it looks more like a sideswipe. It took me forever to learn it but once you get it, it's hard to loose it. I kick with my left leg for some reason and I kept landing on my right knee. Just remember to jump as high as you can off your kicking leg and then whip your leg around really fast and land on it.
