I really want to compete on the NASKA circut in 2011, but my parents cannot afford it. I know it will be expensive, but i am trying to find ways to pay for it. I am 16 and working a little over 40 hours per week, plus mowing a few lawns, but from what i can see the most i can save in the next year is about $6,000 because about half of my money goes straight to saving for college. So my question is how do you guys pay for it, and do you have any advise on how to earn money. My other question is how you balance working/school with training, and how much do you train. Because like said before I am starting college in a few weeks plus working full time and training i am not sure how I will do it. Anyway your advise would be great and much needed, because i am searching for anyway possible to make this work!
Hey! I know affording NASKA tournaments can sometimes be a lot of money! You are doing a great job trying to save up money! If you have a local karate school around, try teaching for them to help you out as well.
It is very hard to juggle college, training, work, etc. I know from experience! You just have to prioritize your time well and keep a well-planned schedule to follow. Do the best you can! Of course at times you will have to give or take with something but keep up the hard work!
That's cool you are saving up for NASKA, as I am too! :) I take my training very seriously, but I relize that school comes first. So of course I get my schoolwork done first and then take my training in to hand. Weather I am taking classes, teaching, or training at home. It can be hard at times with homework and big tests to study for but as long as you manage your time and keep a schedule, you should be ok! Trust me I have been doing this for 6 years now! :)
for a coach you want to find someone is experienced in competing and knows what the judges look for. These type of people are going to help you with your form and make you a better competitior in general. I would suggest looking at NASKA worlds champs or someone locally. Hope this helps.
