Hey Y’all!

I just got back from the US OPEN in Orlando, Florida. I had a great time with all of my friends from my Martial Arts school and from the NASKA circuit.

It was exciting! My Instructor Mike Welch and I made it on stage in the Finals for Team Sync Weapons Forms. Afterwards a lot of people were asking me why I wore an Infinity Marital Arts uniform instead of my regular Team AKA Uniform. I train here in Wisconsin with my Mike Welch who owns Infinity Martial Arts so YES I am definitely still on Team AKA and wear that uniform to represent them when I compete Individually!

Overall I did okay this past weekend in competition, but not as well as I hoped. I’ve been really focused on my school over the last few months as well as my dance team which have been taken up much of my regular marital arts time. I did make it onto ESPN though, which I’m ecstatic about!

I have so many summer plans and I love being busy!  I have Capitol Classics in DC coming up in a few weeks and am training hard for it! I’m making sure I can nail all of my tricks and combos.  My big thing that I’m doing now is strengthening my ankles, which have been giving me trouble and I am trying to prevent having to get surgery on them.

Besides my Martial Arts Training I also have my school dance team practice all summer, which I love to go to! My team is coach-less right now, so we are trying to keep our team together while we find a new one. I’ve been living by our team motto lately   ***It’s not how high you fly, but it’s now high you bounce when you fall!*** Which is good to remember for anyone and any sport.

Here are some of my Top Summer Training Tips!

1. When ever you can, train outside and get some fresh air!
2. Drink LOTS AND LOTS of water!!!
3. Great time to condition and run outside and get in shape for karate, and other sports that come in the fall for school.
4. Use your resources that are outside.  If you are at a park, use monkey bars for pull ups, and hang there and do leg lifts, ect. Also, go run in town where you live. (run in groups though, its safer and more fun that way!)
5. Don’t forget to stretch before and after every workout!

Have a great summer!

It was great seeing everyone last weekend in Florida at the US Open ISKA World Championships.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by the Hyper Booth and hung out. We enjoyed connecting with many old friends and seeing a bunch of new up and coming Martial Artists who are making their mark on the competition circuit. Hats off to all of you for your hard work and we look forward to seeing you at the next event!

Over the past year Hyper Pro Tyler Weaver tested for his second degree black belt in Taekwondo under Master Jody Horn and Paragon Martial Arts in Colorado and has since balanced his time between competing on the Naska Circuit and his new goal of becoming a World Champion on the American Taekwondo Association (ATA) circuit. We sat down with Tyler after his big win this weekend at ATA World Championships where he took the gold medal World Title in the Xtreme Forms Division.

What has it been like competing on a new circuit?

Competing the new circuit has been challenging. The biggest obstacles include adjusting to different rules, and learning the new styles. I’ve been working really hard and it’s something I am really proud to be part of.

What do you enjoy about the ATA circuit?

The best part is being openly adopted into the ATA after testing for my new black belt rank and seeing the respect that everyone has for each other. The competitors are great and It has been really cool making new friends across the country.

The ATA World Championships is one of the largest events in the Martial Arts world. What was the tournament like?

I had great support from my competitors, family, and friends.  The rules for ATA worlds is something different for what I’m used to. I had to collect points throughout the year  by winning at National and Regional events. Then at Worlds those of us with the most (cumulative) points in the division get an invitation to compete for the World Title. In the end it didn’t matter how many I had, as long as it was top ten in points.

What kicks, or combos did you add to your routine this year? It was beastly! I was up against some SICK talent and great competitors and trickers! I’ve been working hard this year on my Xtreme Form and have added 900′s, sideswipes, B-twists, swing through corks, and double leg fulls.

What are you looking forward to in the upcoming year?

I’ve been teaching Xtreme and Creative classes at Paragon in Colorado as well as seminars at other Martial Arts schools so I look forward to helping make new talent and turning more students into champions!  Teaching is amazing!

Tyler left Little Rock Arkansas and ATA Worlds and is heading to Orlando Florida to train with one of his coaches Marcel Jones to prepare for the US Open. Catch the competition live on ESPN3.com throughout the weekend.

Hey!!  I just got back from Ocean State Grands in Rhode Island where we held the 2nd Hyper Games.  It was good seeing everyone getting out there and trying new tricks and pushing themselves.  It was great seeing some new faces.  This is what tricking is all about.  Getting new people to try things they never thought they could do.  Tricking and martial arts is for everyone, and the more we spread the word, the better our sport and culture will be.    The games ran well, and the new shoes (from Creative Recs, which were the prizes for the event) were sick!

So, get out there.  Have some fun. Try something new. Push yourself hard!!

Talk to you guys later!  -Austin

Hey everyone, sorry I haven’t updated my blog for a long time it has not been working well at my house.  :( I just wanted to update you on what is going on right now with me, and competing.  Recently I was in Philly  for Amerikick Internationals.  I had a great weekend, I won Musical Forms, Musical Weapons, and Creative forms for the 16-17 girls division, and got second in creative and traditional weapons.  I felt like I did pretty good, unfortunately had a few bobbles in my runoffs.  I still had a fun weekend because I got to see most of my best friends. Then yesterday at the Southwest Open in (Verona, Wisconsin) I competed and won both my weapon division and form division.  I also won both grand championships, 17 and under! I’m so happy! My student Payton, a new NASKA competitor made it into grands and took third I’m so proud of her! Another one of my students Evan as a brown stripe got asked to compete in the grands with all the black belts! Go Evan!

Hope to be on the blog more!

Jacob Wolfman Guest Blog

Originating from martial arts kicks, tricking wouldn’t exist without the sport martial art legends that evolved the movement into what it has become today. Although it is not part of the actual film, this sequence is something Jacob Wolfman (aka ‘OldSkoolKarate‘) created in the early stages of editing his documentary, “It’s Called Tricking“. The film is set to premiere in Madison, Wisconsin on April 23, 2011. For more on the latest news about tricking, or to keep up on news about the documentary, be sure to like ‘Flippin The Script!‘ on FACEBOOK

Hi Everyone,

It has been a long time since I have updated my blog. I have been injured the past couple months with a fractured foot. It is almost fully healed and I can’t wait to get back to training and tricking at full strength!

I wanted to post a video my dad made me. It shows me over the past few years and my progression. I think this video is a great example of how hard work, great coaching, and lots of persistence and dedication can help you accomplish your goals. Check out the training videos and tutorials on this site as they are a great starting point on your own journey. I hope you enjoy the video and it is a source of inspiration in your own training. Till next time, keep training hard core!!!

2010 was a really exciting year for me! Finally my Nike Commercial “Human Chain” aired during the Winter Olympics. It was an honor to represent Martial Artists around the world and be featured along side such great athletes including Lance Armstrong. Between performing in the new Sideswipe Live Show and competing in tournaments I had a lot of fun! I really feel like I improved this year more than any other year.

In 2011 I am looking forward to trying out a few new things even if it means I don’t place as high in the rankings. It will push me harder to win at the tournaments I have not been able win a championship at yet!

Check out  my 2010 Sampler!!
